Timeless
This corner lot in a historic neighborhood with strict design controls left little room for the expansion the client required, which included an enlarged kitchen with room for comfortable seating, a breakfast room, mudroom and a new pool house, as well as a shaded sitting area adjacent to the pool.
To accommodate these needs, the existing pool house and an interior bearing wall were removed to create space for the bigger kitchen. In addition, the design sought ways to make spaces multi-functional to avoid overbuilding the attractive lot and the backyard. The new space delivers ample natural light through multiple windows and improves flow to the pool house area. A unique feature is the pergola’s custom designed integral shade awnings built on cables that enable them to be adjusted depending on the sun.
