Sanctuary
A beautiful older home in a distinguished historic neighborhood has many lovely qualities, but a kitchen with room for seating, a mudroom or a modern master bath are all unlikely.
This home was a perfect candidate for a cozy addition, large enough on the entry level for a mini-mudroom, and allowing the kitchen to expand into a sitting room bay with a fireplace.
The kitchen now connects to the lovely backyard via a small deck. Upstairs the addition area gracefully recedes on the roofline just enough to provide space for a master bath with a soaking tub, glassy shower and roomy double vanity.
The entire addition elegantly improves the original rear elevation and creates two distinct, small sanctuaries for the owners.
